Dripping In Gold - Dir. Bo Gao
A struggling hip-hop artist dreams of making it big one day - and his shot may just be around the corner.
As lead sound designer on this project, I was responsible for recording all production sound and mixing the final soundscape, vocals and score in post-production. our aim was to create seamless transitions between scenes using overture, which helped characterize and flesh out the personality of our main character, Rob. Timing and quality recording was key here - the audition scene was actually shot in-sync with one of rob's tracks, which allowed us to fully bring in the score and allow the music to do the talking.
Check out a track straight from the film, written and composed by the lead talent, Michael Robert Brownyard.

One of our biggest challenges during production was getting clean audio for the scenes that take place in the hardware store. We unfortunately had no option but to shoot during regular business hours, which meant working around customers and staff who can sometimes be seen and heard. in Our final mix, we were able to disguise most of the unwanted audio - and it ended up adding solid atmosphere to the scene when it was audible, but not loud enough to become intrusive.
